Thanksgiving Dessert Ideas and More

It's almost Thanksgiving time, and you've got to bake for the entire family. You'll find several Thanksgiving Dessert Ideas and more in this index.

1. Pie

Well, of course, I had to begin with the number one choice in Thanksgiving Day desserts: Pie. The most popular pie is Pumpkin Pie. Another very popular choice is Mincemeat. I also like to have an Apple Pie or a Pecan Pie on the biggest eating day of the year.

Don't forget the Whipped Cream.

2. Bundt Cake

I don't think I've ever been to a gathering of lots of people where there wasn't at least one Bundt Cake. I'm not sure if it's because they are sturdy cakes, and travel well, or that they are just easier to make as they are self decorating. Try one of these Bundt Cakes for your Thanksgiving celebration:

Hazelnut Bundt Cake

A tradition layer cake may just fit the bill at your Thanksgiving celebrations. Here are just a few suggestions:

Making a Bread Pudding would make a good change this year. Besides the Basic Bread Pudding, pictured, you could also try these:

Tropical Bread Pudding
S'Mores Bread Pudding
Allie Prudhomme Fonterot's Bread Pudding.

5. Homemade Ice Cream

Ice Cream is not typically considered a standard Thanksgiving Day dessert, but I like it anytime. What other dessert can you serve by itself or with another another dessert, but ice cream? Below are some of my favorites:

Vanilla, boring? No! Vanilla can dress-up most any dessert
Pistachio
Fresh Coconut
Strawberry

6. Fruit Salads

No, they are not desserts, but what Thanksgiving meal is complete without some type of fruit salad?

Watergate Salad
Ambrosia
Three Fruit Salad
