Christmas Pudding
Dec 4th 2011, 11:01

Each year my neighbor Arlene's mother, Marjorie, comes all the way from England to spend the holidays here in Georgia with her daughter. I had the immense pleasure of being able to participate in their yearly tradition of making the Christmas pudding (a.k.a. the Christmas Pud). Although, the pudding is fairly simple to put together, the total cooking time is quite extensive.

I got the warm-fuzzies listening to Marjorie reminisce about the times her mother made the pudding. Back then, silver coins called Threepence (pronounced thrup-pence) were baked right into the pudding. You were considered very lucky if your slice of pudding had a coin in it. Her mother's favorite way of serving the pudding was to pour brandy all around it, and setting it on fire.

This is something everyone should make at least once in their life. I hope you try it this year!

Enjoy and Happy Baking!
